I had the slackest CNY this year with all my visiting done in the evening. Yea, the hype had died down this year. Other than gambling on the first day, and coming back with a purse-ful of coins and an interesting gossip, there's nothing exciting. Just waiting for the day my classmates come over to my house for a CNY gathering. I hope it would go well!

After every annual meeting with my female cousins on the maternal side, I would be left pondering deeply about my life. Maybe because they are experienced mature ladies, and they'd been through what I am going through, I find myself being able to relate to them a lot.

One thing they said that was, the older they grew, the lesser the drive they would have to fight for their passion. And they reminded me to do things I am passionate about now before losing that drive.
Wise words.
I really don't want to be an energy-depleting lady in future. :/ However, we can't control our metabolism rate. One day, I won't be as fit and energetic as now.

I thought I had everything figured out till I started asking myself again,
"What am I exactly supposed to do at 20?"

The older I get, the more I would wish that I was still as young as these 2 little cutie pies. Being able to have your parents 'protect' you and not having to worry about anything in this world. Sigh. Soon everything is going to be a reversal.

My parents would still be guiding me, but there'll come a time where I'll start 'protecting' them. Nope, I'm not complaining. I would very much love to be the one whom my parents could rely on. I just wished that time would slow down a little.

Tomorrow morning would be a show of putting on a confident front and having my first dry-run for my FYP presentation. Why does it feel like I'm going for the actual one? :/
I can slowly tell that I'm losing interest in studying science by the attention I'm giving to my work.

Happy Chinese Lunar New Year!

农历新年快乐！

새해 복 많이 받으세요!

(Koreans celebrate the Lunar New Year also! Not forgetting the Japanese too.)

The best part of CNY is being able to have the big family gather and catch up! :)
So thankful for such a tradition because it makes it like a compulsory thing for everyone to drop everything they have on their hands, and just meet up.

But things were more lively when my grandmothers were still around. Yea, I still miss them. I believe they are doing well wherever they are. :')

The pocketing of money, the gambling and the food gorging starts in a few hours' time! Woohoo! Not forgetting, I have to prepare for my FYP presentation too. Why!?!?! :'(

CNY this year makes me think of my Hainanese roots. One day, I'll wish to set foot on Hainan Island where my paternal grandfather came from, at least once. I can't fly over there now because my dad doesn't think well of our family over there even though we have lost contact with them long ago (i think?).

But I really really want to go back there. Just to get in touch of my Hainanese roots.

Anyway...

I regretted not having buy his album yet! Shall hurry off to buy when the holidays are over. The songs in this album totally surpassed his previous few albums. Before this album, his "No. 89757" album was my favourite. His newest album titled "Lost N Found" definitely took over that spot.

Incorporating classical music pieces and having a Jazz genre which he sang in English is simply sexy. :)

CNY is approaching!
And so is FYP presentation, tests, assignments, reports, EXAMS...oh,and there's still University applications and finding of jobs to be done too.

School's ending soon. Unofficial date is on 21 Feb since I end my last paper on the day.

Got to agree with those who mentioned that it's a waste of such talent to stay in Super Junior M. He could go miles being a solo artist, especially those kind of singer-songwriter.

He's not exactly a looker, but he looks cute enough with his unique dressing style (like the one above). (: Gives me the Wilber Pan feel. Sadly, being in a big group means that I won't get to see much showcase of his talent.

An unforgettable experience.

I gathered up much self-discipline to finally start on my presentation slides for FYP by plucking myself down at the newly renovated Novena Starbucks. And it became one of the most interesting experiences because I ended up sitting behind a group of Koreans.

In the past, I would normally just ignore conversations which I can't comprehend because it's of a different language. But ever since I started learning the Korean language, I can't stop my brain from listening to people talking in Korean. It's like a reflex action.

So, throughout the period of me doing up the slides, it was really distracting. I was trying to figure out a way to minimise the amount of data needed to be presented and trying to understand what the group was talking about. haha! I wasn't exactly eavesdropping since they spoke very loudly.

Somehow I guessed they were talking about Singaporeans speaking Singlish, and people from other English-speaking countries speaking English, and something about Cantonese and Hokkien. I heard both sino-korean and traditional korean numbers here and there, but couldn't understand the context which they were used in.

But, it was pretty amazing trying to figure out whether the group was using 반말(informal) or 존대말(formal) with each other. The conversation was peppered with '요' ending after some sentences occasionally and most sentences ending without it. I've heard someone using 안녕하세요 and another using 안녕. So, I assumed the group was made up of people with different ages.

Just to share something I got to know recently...
In dramas, when the boy and girl who are in love starts using 반말(informal) with each other, the Korean viewers would usually squirmed in their seats and feel the love between the couple.

But I'm very sure for us non-Koreans, we do not actually know the fact that when a couple starts using 반말(informal) with each other, it meant that their distance in the relationship between each other has closed up and they are open with each other about their feelings.

I only just got to know this, so I'll find a chance to re-watch some past dramas and take note of the changes. :) But I guess, it won't make me squirm or whatnot since I'm not entirely immersed in the culture. But it's surely an interesting knowledge.

Now it's back to studying for HISTO test. All the best to me!

Yesterday's HISTO practical was one of the best lessons and the most informative lessons I ever had. Only those who were present would know what I mean. (: Have to write it down, so that I won't forget whatever happened on that faithful lesson. Cantonese vulgarity.

Haha, quite unbelievable that I'm still learning the Korean language. It's the first time I felt studying is so much fun. And I don't feel burden by it at all. Just want to learn it to the best of my ability.

Few more weeks of school left, and I ought to begin on the preparation of my FYP presentation slides.

School had begun, and...

FYP REPORT WAS FINALLY SUBMITTED!!
Now I'm only left with the oral presentation part. There goes this year's CNY.

Done with 20 episodes of Secret Garden. Made me laugh quite a bit. A typical Korean drama with endless twists and turns, but I love how the characters portray their childish selves in the show.

Their mutual childishness really kept their relationship going strong and exciting. (:

This got to be the most beautiful photograph I've taken of 淡水(DanShui) in my travels to Taipei. The weather was beyond perfect. Taiwan never fails me. (:

끝났어요... 2011 is over.

In 2012, it's my graduation year (if everything goes smoothly). Then, I'll be stepping into a new environment. How will my 2012 be like?

I'm just hoping to get into the course of my choice, hopefully make some great friends in the new school, and finally get to participate in school activities again. Truthfully, the thought of meeting friends in a local university scares me a little.

After all, it would definitely be dominated by JC students. I've got nothing against them, just that I'll wonder how well we will be able to communicate. After all, we both have different academic experiences. And I'll wonder whether I'll survive in the competitive environment there.

More about that later.
I think I should worry more about how to get pass haematology and blood banking. Blood sucker modules!

Soon, we'll bid goodbye to 2011 and welcome the new 2012.

I guess at this period of time, all of my peers in Poly would be rushing to meet the deadlines for their FYP report. Strive on my friends! :D
I know... Even though it seems like graduation is SO NEAR, but the endless assignments to be done, and not forgetting our final exams that we have to sit for makes graduation seems so unlikely to happen that soon.

2011 wasn't that a pleasant year for me even though there were great moments to remember.
As much as I'm excited to finally graduate, I'm really clueless of what to do in future. I feel like life is changing so much, and I'm changing so much so that it scares me.

The year begun with my industrial attachment which made me developed minor anxiety and depression because I felt like I'm wasting my life away doing nothing in the laboratory. I was pretty much traumatized to the extent that I'm making use of every opportunities in my life finding something new to learn.

Clinical attachment came next. And the experience was SIMPLY AMAZING! The chance of getting to talk to people almost everyday. It's a total contrast from my industrial attachment. I'm so thankful of the experience at the clinic that I'm jumping on any chance to work part-time there again.
However, the question of "What happens after death?" always cling onto my mind from then on.

So my mindset of "learning something new" got me my driving license after 2 tries, made me improve on my Cantonese, made me learn the Korean language (and I'm still learning it!), and started to take Japanese classes (just for the fun of it, since it's impossible to master so many languages at once). I even wrote a story purely in Chinese. LOL!

FYP took up most of my time this year. No, not the "busy doing experiment" part but the "chasing for things to do" part. Even though, FYP is not over yet, the experience with adults during this FYP period is pretty horrible. Ah...life...

School activities were minimized to only 1 which was Poly 50. Freshmen year was still the best!

I travelled to Penang, Shanghai and Taiwan this year. And Indonesia for a one-day trip. (:
Got to thank my parents for all the amazing experience out of Singapore! I'm a fortunate girl and I appreciate that a lot.

That pretty much sums up 2011.

As for the upcoming 2012, I have bigger dreams and hopes for the year.
So, please don't let it end!!!

It's time for a break. Haha, time to have a temporary loss of communication soon. But I'm still handling my FYP report... :/ Hope the final draft goes well.

写完故事后，心里依旧的挣扎也消失了。终于... 自己也没有了什么遗憾。但写着故事的期间，好像又再经历当时的心情。感觉好真... 又开心又酸痛的。心里流下的眼泪比表面上看到的眼泪来得更真实。

This post is going to be a great one! I feel so excited writing now. Hehehe!

Even though I know I'm a late bloomer BUT it's never too late,ya? :)

So after the "Winter Sonata" and "Da Chang Jin" era, I didn't bother much about the Korean entertainment industry till recently.

The first Korean drama that pulled me back into the Korean entertainment industry is " You're Beautiful/미남이시네요". I caught this drama in 2009, and I even watched it twice! Went crazy over the songs in the drama too.

Jang Geun Suk (장근석-pronounced Jang Geun Seok) played the main male lead (Tae Kyung) in the drama. His 'bad boy' role caught my attention, and I loved how he could pull off wearing black eyeliner and still look so good!

While most girls around me were rooting for Shin Woo (played by Jung Yong Hwa), who played the really nice guy to get together with the female lead, I was a loyal Tae Kyung supporter.

Eventually, my craze for the show died down, and I felt that Geun Seok's image is turning a little too girly for my liking.

So I gave another Korean drama called "Playful Kiss/장난스런 키스" a try. And this time Kim Hyun Joong (김현중-pronounced Kim Hyeon Joong) was the reason I got stuck to the drama.

He played Seung Jo, who was a genius and such an all-rounder. His hairstyle went from straight to curly in the show but he still looked so good!

He debuted as a singer soon after, and that was when I started to stop paying attention to him. His new role in the music scene didn't really attract me.

I found my next eyecandy in the Korean F4 drama, which almost every girl went ga-ga over (when I was still pretty oblivious to them). His name is Kim Bum (김범-pronounced Kim Beom) who starred as one of the F4 members in "Boys Over Flowers/꽃보다 남".

I stumbled upon him while trying to watch Kim Hyun Joong in the drama. He has such an adorable face, and pairing him up with Kim So Eun (김소은), who's also in the photo was the best thing ever. I was disappointed that their screen time on the show was so little. WHY!!! :(

I didn't follow up on Kim Bum after that. And I stopped my 'adventure' with the Korean entertainment industry since then.

And around last month, I decided to try my luck watching the popular Korean variety show "Running Man/런닝맨". The concept of the show makes me miss playing Hide&Seek with my cousins when we were younger and all the games at camps. "Running Man" is like Hide&Seek + camp games on a bigger scale! Plus it's so funny!

And the cute boy that caught my eye was Song Joong Ki (송중기)!

He was 1 of the 8 original members in the Running Man team, but left soon after for other commitments, since he's main role in the industry was an actor.

My first virtual encounter with Joong Ki was when I watched my first Running Man episode which was episode 66. He left Running Man in episode 41, but came back to star as a guest in 66. On knowing he was an original member, I started watching from episode 1 onwards. And fell in love with the Running Man family. Aww...

He became my eyecandy in the show and I was upset that he had to leave.

Another photo of Joong Ki because he look so handsome with this hairstyle. He doesn't really look his age and his smile is the mesmerising factor!

중기 오빠! 귀엽다!

Jung Yong Hwa (정용화-pronounced Jeong Yong Hwa) played Shin Woo a.k.a Mr. really-nice-guy in "You're Beautiful".

His role in the drama wasn't attractive enough for me, but when he starred in Running Man as a guest several times, it's a totally different story. He was such a good and strong Seeker in the show, one of the best guests ever. And I'm so glad he stars in Running Man so often! :D

I moved on to watching him and Seohyun (from SNSD) in the variety show "We Got Married" where they played a virtually married couple. The good thing about variety shows like these, is that you get to see a more realistic side of artistes.

And I love how he's so talented in music and so sweet towards his "wife".

(Ya I know! they should totally get together in real life. LOL!)

He's the leader of the rock band, CN Blue. Even though I'm not very into the K-pop scene, CN Blue's music made me think twice. Love their songs!

And singers that are talented in writing their own songs are those whom I idolise! That's why Yong Hwa is now in my list of idols. :D

Not forgetting the other members of CN Blue are also talented good-lookers. Their concert would be worth going in my opinion.

He looks pretty hot with his fringe up in the video. And I love his stage presence! :D

The song "그리워서" is on replay on my iTunes now! It's a song for his latest drama "Heartstrings" where he acted with the female lead from "You're Beautiful". His voice is just so emotional... My heart melts everytime I listened to it.

용화 오빠! 화이팅!!

I'll be awaiting to hear more of CN Blue's music. And now back to Running Man in HongKong with Yong Hwa as a guest! :D

Jason BG's wedding

I told myself to blog about my cousin's wedding before Monday arrives. Monday means I have to start working on my FYP report. sigh.

The cousins decided to hold a Bachelor/Hens Party (since we are all girls except the groom) for the groom at Arena. It was my first time there. Since it was a Thursday night, the place wasn't as crowded like normally.

The songs were really not bad, and there were live singers. The dance floor was pretty much AWESOME because there was SO MUCH space to dance since it wasn't crowded.

Truthfully, I find clubbing a waste of money. Thinking about the money I have to spend on the drinks and entrance fee on non-ladies' nights. And it's not worth spending that amount especially in a crowded club where I'll hardly have space to move.

But I do enjoy clubbing when:

I really need to relieve a heavy load of stress due to school.
There's space on the dance floor for me to move.
There's great company.
'Taking care' is not in my clubbing schedule. (HAHA! I know I sound mean but I'm sure down on luck with such things.)

So... My first clubbing experience with my cousins and their friends were one of the best clubbing memories I had. :D

And here comes the Big Day!

Even though there's the Chinese saying "家家有本难念的经"(every family has their own problems), I'm really glad to have a group of close-knit cousins! I hope our plans for Korea would go smoothly! *crossing my fingers and toes*

That was the message I wrote on their guestcard (instead of a book). Because in every marriage, there's bound to be arguments and dissatisfaction. Sometimes, the husband and wife would forget the reason why they got married in the first place. So I really hope their love would keep on going, and being shown in various ways! :D

Finally, one more new addition to my big family!

Since we are on the topic of weddings and I have developed a new addiction in Korean variety shows, here's my favourite song at the current moment. By the way, I love RUNNING MAN!!!

"반말송 (Banmal Song) " written by the 고구마 부부 (Sweet Potato couple) who were a virtual married couple on 'We Got Married'.

Even though, many commented them as one of the most boring couples in the variety show. But the way their relationship progress was pretty real and I love how they used music as a form of communication.

The song depicts their relationship in the show. And I felt the beauty of the Korean language.By having both polite and non-polite forms in a language is really special. And how much it can mean to one person if his wife uses the non-polite form when speaking to him. :)

Ah...I got to buck up on studying Korean!

Having attend 2 weddings of my cousin this year, and witnessing the relationship of my parents. I finally understood how love is like. How true it is that one should marry the person one cannot live without.

《那些年，我们一起追的女孩》 Round 2!

This time it was with 1/3 of my class. And I didn't expect the outing to turn out to be that enjoyable. (:

If only the class girls and boys would open up more towards each other, things would be even better! We'll get there some day...I hope.

Anyway, I felt that the movie seems even more touching the second time I watched it.

I viewed the movie with my own opinion the first time. Certainly, it brought back memories of my secondary school days. Something enjoyable to reminisce about.

But while watching it for the second time, at the last 10 minutes, I found myself watching the movie through the eyes of a good friend I knew. I realised the feelings he had when he found out that his first love was getting married.

a tinge of regret but an abundance of happiness for the girl

And I was right about those who would truly enjoy the movie and those who would enjoy only the funny parts. I liked the movie because it was based on a true story, and the director's aim was to bring the audiences back to their younger days.

I was right about those who really loved this movie are those who had a wonderful yet regretful first love during their schooling years.

As for those who just found the movie touching like a normal love story, are those who are purely more emotional but yet to experience their first love.

The last group are those who have not experience their first love but enjoyed laughing at the funny scenes in the movie.

I am guilty of busying myself with Youtube videos about the recent movie, 《那些年，我们一起追的女孩》, instead of studying. LOL. Hope no major harm done, ya? :)

这部电影的导演，九把刀，把他甜蜜与难忘的青春拍成了一部片子。让他自己回想到当初恋爱的天真，也令观众对自己少年时恋爱的经验有不少的感触。而我，也被这部片子感动到了，它触动我不少宝贵的回忆。

九把刀的青春真让我感到惊叹。因为我是从女校毕业的，所以对男孩在高中时的所作所为都不知所措。但念女校的同学并不代表她们没有自己难忘的恋爱故事哦！哈哈，只是女校同学们的故事是有些比较独特啦！

我也知道看完这部电影的朋友们，有些觉得柯景腾与沈佳仪最后不能够在一起的原因而感到遗憾。但我自己不觉得这是遗憾，而是现实。这到低也是青春吗，青春的特别就是我们能无忧无虑地过生活。最终长大后，大家最需要的就是找到稳重让自己能依赖的另一半。

九把刀为了想记住自己的回忆，把它变成了一本小说，一部片子。有一天我也会想把自己的回忆写到博客上。长大后，能够再一次阅读，再次感受青春时的快乐与美好。（：

Was browsing through NTU's Biological Sciences webpage. By looking at the modules, I really felt like crying thinking about of what I have to study in future. Modules like 'Advance Biochemistry', 'TCM (traditional chinese medicine) Introduction' do seem interesting by looking at the titles, but I know how horrible it would be to me. :/ The 'Pathology' module caught my attention though. But I seriously doubt that there are lecturers like Ben Yang in NTU.

So many questions in my mind. If I continued on with a degree in Science, I may only need to study for 3 years. And on the side, I could take a Linguistics Minor. But if I changed to a different course, I have to study for 4 years. Damn. I'm sick of studying. And I REALLY don't want to be a science researcher in future.

I would really like the idea of 3 years, but I would be studying something that would bore me to tears. So, changing course would be the other alternative, but it's going to take me 4 years and that is if I'm able to get in.

At a standstill.

Haha, why not just stop studying?

After all, I don't learn much useful stuff studying from books anyway.

Waste.of.my.time.

Oh well. Still got to get into a Uni by hook or by crook.

Poly 50 2011

My last Poly 50 as a SP student.

From the start of the new school year, I was seriously contemplating on whether to run. I was reluctant knowing that the chemistry with the other participants would be absent unlike the first 2 experiences. I wanted to join because it's my LAST Poly 50.

So...I only made a decision a week before the actual race. How last minute. I know. And the reason was because they needed girls.

My team didn't finish the 50 rounds because of some misunderstandings and the sucky new system. Sometimes technology is a bane. Please get the old system of cards back!

But truthfully, it didn't really matter to me.
I really loved the experience I had in my first year. So much so that when I saw some of my Team 1 (in Yr 1) teammates who was running as Alumni that day, my heart skipped a beat. (: I was really honoured to be the only freshmen placed in Team 1 then.

My second Poly 50 wasn't that bad too. But just that I was too exhausted with training and my hectic and busy timetable.
As for my third, it was alright. Haha! Thanks to the free food available at the carnival and I love the colour of the jersey (besides it being a little too revealing).

Maybe I'll be coming back to run for Alumni next year though. (:

Back to academics. FYP seems like a dead-end to me. I really feel like suggesting to HK to just wrap up everything. It's already the 13th (suggested deadline: 25th), and we have not started on anything again.
As for my assignments, I feel that the pace of doing work has slowed down. Things feel more relaxed now MINUS-ing FYP.

That was the most appropriate comment about this movie I chanced upon on Youtube. It translates as "In everyone's heart, they would have went through a very beautiful story in their life which they remember the most."

The movie was beautiful, very true, funny, sad and damn sick. Not to spoil anything, but the various masturbation scenes are funny! I guess guys can relate to them more, because the few guys sitting in the row in front of me were laughing their butts off!!! Apparently, the schooling culture in Taiwan and Singapore aren't much of a difference. The boys still use vulgarities all the same, just that the Taiwanese swears in Hokkien, while Singaporeans use both English and Hokkien. LOL!

Those uniform days. Innocent but the most memorable! I guess it's true that whatever happens when you were just a young teenager (13-16) were sweet memories that rarely come true. Even though I wasn't in a mixed school, I do get my fair share of crushes. (:

I finally understood why those lines were placed into the soundtrack of "Love You You". The female lead in the movie is 70% deaf. The highlight of the movie was when the male lead's journal was being read out. Without that, I was probably lost in transition of how the guy fell for her.

Rushed through the 15-episode idol drama. I wanted to watch the ending very impatiently. The drama has too many flashback scenes and it simply just ended with a kiss between the couple. The concluding episode was pretty much a disappointment as it didn't end with a bang! Something was clearly missing.

Things in idol dramas always have a happy ending. But I teared while watching this show because I was reminded of the couple who I had read about in a biography (The Good Women of China) not long ago. They were deeply in love with each other, but the guy moved on eventually because he thought the love of his life died while serving their country. While the lady waited for 45 years believing that she would meet him one more time.

Similar storyline. Just that the female lead only had to wait 3 years and like every fairytale, they got married and lived happily ever after. But not in reality...or is it never?

Wondering what had happened to the guy who moved on? He married another woman, and name 3 of his daughters after the love of his life. He really love her.

Idol dramas are like fairytales for teenage girls.

That should be very very true. There will never be cases where the guy of your dreams (who is very handsome) leaves you for some reason, and another guy (another handsome one) comes into your life. And both of them treats you and loves you perfectly. LOL! I always would laughed at how foolish we girls can be. But like I've said, there's nothing wrong with fantasizing at times.

Sigh, immersing myself in a new drama means that I'll have less time to concentrate on my work. Got to place more effort in self-discipline now.

Took the picturesque scenery above on Deepavali at 7 in the morning. I kind of stumbled upon that while exploring MBS shopping mall for the first time. The mall at 7 was just plain empty. The place makes me feel like I'm in another part of the world. Yea, truthfully it's not my world. No means to afford such high-end products.

But once I stepped out of the other exit of the mall, my breath was just taken away by what I saw. Singapore can be beautiful. You just need to look at her from another angle. :) And it helps that there was only a handful of people around at that hour. I was able to enjoy the view without disturbance.

I won't mind waking up early to go back there to see that again. Just a pity, I only had a iPhone4 camera in hand.

I had a one-day event work that day. It was the first time I ever seen so many passports from around the globe. And it was also the day where I felt so much surer about my decision. One day, just one day, I'll learn the Russian language. I really dislike the feeling of helplessness when the Russians didn't understand what I was talking about and vice versa.

But the experience was great! They were such patient tourists. I think I just fell in love with being able to communicate with people. (:

I don't really bother if they do complain about me though. Because life is so much more interesting this way.

Favourite spot in school

Ever since entering SP, I haven't really found my 'favourite' spot to just hang out with myself yet. Back in SAC, the grassy field was my then favourite spot. I would always sit on the grassy slope and just look far and up, staring at the sky whenever I need some alone time.

Spectrum at SP is my most visited studying spot. But I found a place recently (last semester of my Poly education). Haven't sat there once in my entire Poly education till now. I won't be spending my time studying for exams there though.

Just sitting there, looking out of the window at the blue sky filled with marshmallow-like clouds, and the green crown of the trees made me feel that life is beautiful and worth living for. Picking out interesting reads added on as a bonus. (:

Just missing the permission to drink a nice beverage.

Friends come and go, they change from time to time.

I thought recently a good friend of mine whom I treasure had forgotten about having a friend in me. Just glad that I was wrong. It's the thought.

His down-to-earth personality, His talent, His passion, His creativity, His attitude, His determination, His guts?

I admire the fact that he left the country where he was born, America, to reside in Taiwan to find out more about his Chinese roots. He took the effort to learn Chinese at 18. Been there and still doing that :( -- it's not that easy to pick up a language at that age. And the fact that he learnt the traditional Chinese characters, where the number of strokes in a character is quite insane, makes me feel a little ashamed of myself.

And his guts and creativeness in trying out different kinds of music in all kinds of genres is applaudable. All his songs turned out good by the way.

He gotten himself another admirer now. (:

Can You Feel My World

This song describes that his life isn't actually as glamorous as it seems to be all the time. It's not as smooth-sailing as we all view it to be. And I feel that it's quite uncommon for Chinese songs to be written in this genre.

I think it's nice that some singers talk about what's going through their mind when they write a particular song, and the story behind each of the songs. Because I'm not exactly muscially-inclined, so the only thing I can tell from a song is whether it's a happy or sad one till I read the lyrics. BUT that's another challenge! I have to read between the lines.

The holidays are about to end. Unexpectedly, I spent majority of my time at home. But it was pretty much well-spent. (: Although I could have spent it better if I didn't procrastinate so much.

Did some thinking, and the question is "Should I further my studies in Linguistics?"

It's going to be a great jump from Science, and I'm placing a heavy bet on getting a good GPA to change my course of interest.

I wonder whether I'll dare to take this step.

The photo explains it all. Truthfully, I feel so lost now. The experience isn't what I've thought out to be at all. I thought I would be working hard throughout all of it. Now, I'm stress for totally different reasons. I really hate the idea of sitting and waiting, not knowing what am I suppose to do next!

And the words "we may have been studying the wrong target" and " I believe so" doesn't sum up to give a reassuring answer.

ITP was horrendous for the same reason.

I feel like a little girl trying to keep everything in place now. Just glad that I still have some people around me who understands what a science student goes through. (:
And I learned that I'm still too soft-hearted and worry too much as always.

I was reading the news today, and Mr Lee K. Y. mentioned about not forgetting the importance of the Chinese language.
And recently, I came across this image while googling "easiest language to learn" out of curiosity.

The image shows the difficulty of learning various languages for a native English speaker.
As a Singaporean Chinese, even though English is considered my first language, I don't think I'm considered a native English speaker?

Nonetheless, the English language is like my staple food. I use it everyday. But if you study the image carefully, Chinese is considered a language which is hard to learn for a native English speaker.

And I felt really grateful for being able to speak fluently and have the knowledge of both languages. They can be considered world's apart. It's difficult to master both languages, however, understanding both languages is something to be proud of. (:

I found a new interest in languages recently. Currently, I'm trying to learn a new language. It's not easy.
Besides learning a new language, I'm trying to find out how determined a person am I because it's going to take years to learn. I don't have a flair for languages. But I do have the passion for learning one. (:

While browsing through comments on Youtube, something caught my attention. There are actually people criticising others for using simplified Chinese characters instead of the traditional ones, calling them Communists and not being a real Chinese.

"Wow!" I thought to myself. I didn't know such criticism actually exists! No other comments from me though. Even though, I won't mind having the opportunity to learn how to write in traditional Chinese. Reading isn't as difficult.

On a side note, school's starting in a week's time. 저는 학교 안 가고 싶어요.

After this semester's holiday, I have more or less decided on where I'll be going after graduation. Initially, I thought I would need to take a gap year to actually think through it carefully. But I guess my mind eventually decided to make a decision now. It's not a dream decision but it's the most practical and sensible one.

It has been years. My friends are mostly english-speaking and would listen to either english songs or are fanatics of the Kpop scene. As for my chinese-speaking friends, haha... I don't think guys would ever want to watch another guy dancing and singing on stage?

I came to realise that I'm so use to speaking english that it takes effort to tune myself back to speaking the "english mix with chinese" language with my chinese-speaking friends. It's not difficult to speak in chinese, but I find it takes a little skill to mix both english and chinese fluently.

At times like this, I would be thinking which word of the sentence should I switch to saying it in english. It feels so unnatural.

Haha, and I will find it amusing when I converse in english, and the other party replies in chinese.

the good women of china

I picked up another book by Xin Ran, titled the "The Good Women of China". Probably my last book that I'll be reading written by her. Among all 3 books that I've read, this left the deepest impression.

It talks about the hardships of the Chinese women in the past. Painful and heartbreaking recounts. The stories left great impressions, but one that caught my attention most was the story "The Woman Who Waited Forty-five Years".
She waited 45 years to meet up with her first and only love, only to find out that he had gotten married. They were separated due to the need of fulfilling the duties for the Communist Party.

He received news that she died in a car crash and moved on with his life. Who was to know that the news were just rumours. It's sad to know that they got separated not because of natural incidents but by the doings of people.

Like what the book says. "So many wrongs were committed in the Cultural Revolution - who can put them all right?"

And I really love this paragraph in the book.
"Chinese men need women in order to form a picture of themselves - as mountains are reflected in the streams. But streams flow from the mountains. Where then is the true picture?"

Ending off this post with a photo my paternal grandparents. They looked real loving in this photo. (:
And I would really like to know what their story was like.
But they were probably quite traditional, and never really shared much of their stories with their children.

Let's hope that as I continue growing up, my parents would share more of my grandparents' and their own stories with me. (:

Time to pick up another meaningful book!

China Witness

I've finished "China Witness" by Xin Ran. Very insightful about China in the past and how she progressed into her future, which is now. Even though I'm not from China, but I got interested about my grandparents' motherland. Hmm.. I wonder am I considered a 3rd generation immigrant?

Looking at a different angle, Communism isn't all that bad. The poor peasants of China actually benefited a lot from the system of Communism because wealth was shared, so they do not have to worry about paying for health care,education etc. Perhaps being poor in that generation was actually a life-saver, because you don't have to power to mess with politics, and your chances of being an innocent "traitor" to the country is much lower compared to those more well-off.

The writer was sharing her views on how fast modern China is progressing that people's life revolves mainly around money now. Cultures and traditions are slowly disappearing. It's a pity. The younger generation didn't understand the hardships of their parents or grandparents. How they actually saw China's progression through the world war and especially the Cultural Revolution to the China now. And being part of the population which helped build up China.

I didn't even know such things like the Long March existed. History sure is captivating if it's not studied like how I did back in secondary school.

Education kills interest.

In my country, the younger generation around me would jump at the idea of traveling to the different parts of Europe or Australia. That's my observation. I used to be like this too, but I'm learning to appreciate.

Hardly have I heard youngsters being all excited about visiting China, exploring the different provinces in China, besides Hong Kong or Macau. I think China can be a beautiful country to visit, and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to share the same excitement of visiting China just like the rest of the other countries. (:

Anyway, the plate of food shown was a dinner treat by a friend of mine at the dining hall of University Town at NUS. It's amazing!

Dropped by East Point newly opened DAISO to look and see. Bought a file holder in the end. Have not stepped foot into that shopping mall in a long while.

The day started off bumping into the 4 CLS 18-year-old boys at Farrer Park, and we ended up going grocery shopping together at NTUC.

Weird combination but interesting to see how they act just like young children when they got hold of the NTUC trolley.

We moved on to Cold Rock Creamery for some ice-cream where Gabriel joined us.

Played with the new updated version of the Leme Cam app but disappointed to find out that the HD option had disappeared. So I downloaded another new photo editing app, Snapseed, for my new 'toy'.

The last semester results are out! The way I always celebrate is to throw all my handwritten, made with love notes into the dustbin.

I'll miss them. But what's got to go, got to go.

19. And getting older.

And for those who forked out time to spend with me,I deeply appreciate that.

Turning 19 isn't something spectacular to me. It's like being stuck between a young adult at 18, and having your first 2 infront of your age at 20. I miss being 18.

But now, since I've turned 19, I see goals that I want to achieve in my mind.
First and foremost - to improve on my cantonese.

While growing up under my grandmother's care, my everyday life was filled with people speaking cantonese. But surprisingly, even though I picked up the skill of understanding the dialect, I didn't picked up the ability to speak.

...One of my biggest regrets.

If only I was daring enough to speak cantonese when I was younger. If only I wasn't afraid of how my relatives would laugh at my broken spoken cantonese. I would very well be able to communicate with my late grandmother and find out many of her stories.

Mastering a language or a dialect isn't easy. But I know that the more languages I can speak, the more I can find out about this world. Because this world is a intriguing place. And I would never want to miss out on finding out more.

Therefore, I'm crossing my fingers and toes that the polyclinics would take me back in after I graduate. Haha, besides cantonese, hokkien is another dialect that I should know! :D
I don't want to get scolded by people for not understanding hokkien again.

Weddings.

Generally, it’s something all ladies love. Even at this age where divorces are so common, I still love attending weddings. Because I still do believe that love can be everlasting.

Weddings are such good reasons to dress up in pretty clothes, high heels and do my hair. And the best part is I’ll get to see how other people dress up too! People-watching is one of my hobbies.

Basically, the newlyweds are the stars for the day! The bride would be the most beautiful female in the whole venue, and everyone would be vying to have a photo taken with the couple.

I just wanted to talk about a wedding I had just attended. The wedding of Gordon and Natalie-Gordon is my cousin, so Natalie is now my cousin-in-law.

Venue: Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa
Date: 10 September 2011

It was a beautiful venue to hold your wedding at, especially for the Solemnisation, which was held at the Glass Pavilion. I think Sentosa is one of the best choices to hold a wedding at in Singapore.

This would be the first wedding which I would have the most vivid memory of. Since the last time I attended a wedding of a direct family member was years back, and I was too young to even bother to dress up properly.

And it’s amazing. The couple made a short video on how they first met and the progress of their relationship which they acted out. Great acting skills and damn hilarious! (L-O-L & W-T-F) Usually for weddings, the newlyweds would just plan for a slideshow to be shown. But this time, it was different. Gordon and Natalie probably wanted to do something special.

Besides, the way they met was special too – through DOTA!

I teared when both the bride and bridegroom gave their thank you speeches, especially when they spoke lovingly about their parents. And I love how they dedicated one of my favourite songs, “Because You Loved Me”, to their parents. (:

I was curious about how do the parents actually feel, especially having to ‘send’ their daughter away from the family after looking after her for 20 plus years, and the son finally leaving home to start his own family. THAT particular feeling is so special that only a parent will know how it feels. No matter how much I try to empathise, it just won’t work...

So now, I have a much bigger extended family now. This would probably be my first and last time seeing them but I would say that this extended family of mine seems to be really professional. And since I like people-watching a lot, I noticed that they dress differently from us, and all of them look really good. It’s just interesting to see how different we all are. (:

E: My girlfriend's instructor told her to adjust the side mirrors of the car. So...she turn on the engine, open the door, and... got off the car to adjust the mirrors!

(Everyone burst out laughing at this point of time. It was damn funny when E was sharing the story!)

E: Girls cannot drive manual cars because they have coordination problems.

Me: But it's not that difficult actually. (Really!!! Even though I don't get why some girls can't manage.)

HK: (turns around to face me) They are trying to say that you are not a girl.

It's been a while since lunch conversations were that funny. Rare times!
Now on to Shanghai.

Introduction:
China used to be seen with litters and spits around,but I got to say things are improving in that country.

I landed at Shanghai's Pudong Airport to the scene of blue blue sky and green green grass. Nice! :)

Visited The Bund (or Wai Tan) on the first night there. This was the second time I'm visiting Shanghai after 7 years. And I would say this place represents Shanghai best.

The purpose of visiting The Bund is to appreciate the view of the whole row of old British buildings at one side of the street (top) and the view of the skyline at Pudong side from the other side of the street (bottom). No other countries offer this 2-in-1 combination.

And this is what you are in Shanghai for.

On the third night, my relatives brought us to dinner at The Grill in Grand Hyatt Hotel,Shanghai (1 of the 3 tallest buildings in Shanghai City).

This was my first experience dining at such a fine restaurant. Good experience, good view (forgotten which level I was at) and good food! :)

But it's not something you can afford everyday...

Another of my favourite place to visit in Shanghai is located at the Puxi side of Shanghai. It's not exactly a place but an area filled with many different streets where I feel that it gives you the best impression of how the old Shanghai looks like.

I love the old buildings and especially those trees that line the streets!
Totally can imagine women in qipao walking along the streets and rickshaws cycling along the roads in the olden days when I was there. (:

Besides, Xin Tian Di, where all the night life happens,is located nearby!

One of the must-visits in China are their water towns. Took about an hour plus ride to get to Zhu Jia Jiao water village/old town.

I really like the view there but I feel that it's getting too modernized, spoiling the right 'feel' it's suppose to have. ):
This is taken from the 100th floor (435metres) of Shanghai's tallest building, Shanghai World Financial Centre. It wasn't build when I was there the last time.

The first time I was in Shanghai, the tallest building was the Oriental Pearl Tower (the one with 3 spheres in the photo). And after the Oriental Pearl Tower was the Jin Mao Tower (the main building in the photo), which was also consists of Grand Hyatt hotel where The Grill is located at.

So, I'm very fortunate to have a chance to go up to all 3 of the tallest buildings in Shanghai. (:

I got to say China have changed a lot over the years.
The public toilets are getting cleaner,thankfully...But I don't get why they just don't like to flush the toilets there. Shanghai is considered pretty clean and safe. But the people can be really loud and rough. This doesn't mean that they are rude,but I guess their culture is like that over there.

There was this instance when I was browsing through some stuff in H&M.
This lady came behind me, grab me on my shoulders and just LITERALLY shifted me away without a word of excuse,so she can see the stuff she wants.
People don't say "excuse me" or "sorry" much. It's just how things work there.

But, I would like to go back to GuangZhou very much though!

Talking about H&M...It's funny that locals actually queue up to get in to the first H&M store at Orchard Road where the H&M stores in Shanghai are practically quite empty.

I feel like sleeping and I have been working on CCHEM for almost the whole day. I really don't want to touch those notes anymore. And really hoping my senior's notes would help me out for exams tomorrow. Lecturer's notes are too messy and all over the place. ):

Feel so anxious for tomorrow's paper. It's like the most feared paper among all of us, since forwarding this module is a high chance when the paper carries a 50% weightage. ARGH! Please,please let me do well and pull up my grade. Or the least I can expect is to let me pass the paper (which makes me feel like a loser for having such low expectations :/).

Hai...back to CCHEM. Sobs! :'(

Applied Immuno is over! Hand-breaking 2 hours' paper. Before the paper, I still remember talking to Elaine about how exhaustive it is having to rush through 4 essays in 2 hours, she replied saying that it's always better to have sore hands then having nothing to write. How true.

But with the unimaginable Clinical Chem in a day's time, I feel so numb. I have to put in double the effort for this module just because it made it to the top of my list, for the 'Most Hated Module'. Got to think of how to make it interesting to study. :(

With the horrible MST results, I got to do well. Back to making more red notes!

Even though I have a paper tomorrow, I'm just chilling and relaxing now. Totally hate the stress! Shall start recalling information before I sleep.

We all probably hate how rote learning education made learning such a turn off here. But change is inevitable for now, so the only thing we can do is to spice up how we learn! (:

Take out those rough papers, colour papers, colour pens and start drawing your mind maps and pictures to make things easier! Creativity is what we all have and need to put into good use. I guess we can all convert those complaining moments to 'fun studying' moments! (:

I shall try a new learning method next semester and Google would then be my best friend! :D

As usual, I'm trying hard to escape from my full-time procrastinator and dreamer duties when exams are nearing. And AALIMM and CCHEM2 are heavy modules to cover.

I've abandon my 'duties' pretty well today (& hopefully for the next few days too!). Just got to memorise those AALIMM contents for Tuesday's paper! And figure out a way to squeeze in time for CCHEM2 in between.

After dealing with all those ICA modules, life is not as stressful and uptight anymore. It's just left with worrying about having to load all the info needed for exams into my 'storage base'. Then, thinking about those results come right after the last paper is completed. Boo...

I can't wait for my long-awaited one week break which I'll be using the time to think of my next step. Dilemma filled with exhilaration.

The caffeine is forcing my brain to stay awake.

5 years of friendship and (I really hope...) counting. I really would like to say "Thank you,Janna." Thanks for being there 24/7, really 24/7!

Time may have flew by just too fast, and I'm glad that the friendship between us still stayed strong. It's been nearing 3 years since our SAC days, whereby we always see each other in school everyday. I still remember all the fun things we did together back then. Too many things to even list out!

Haha, it's funny how judgmental I was when I first saw you in Secondary 1. Since you were in Class 1/8 then, and I was in Class 1/4, I always thought you were some kind of smarty pants that don't really bother about interaction with the girls from other class.

HAHAHA! So sorry for being so judgmental back then but it's pretty mind-blowing that we'll end up in the same class for the next 3 years.

And now you are a freshman in NTU! We probably have not spend much time having fun after we graduated from SAC, but we have those kind of friendship that no matter how long we don't contact each other, we know we are still there for one another. (:

I finished all my GEMS for my Poly life! I enjoyed my last elective - Financial Management for Engineers,because I got to do a little of Maths here and there. Calculations are love. (:

After this thursday's BIOSTATS final test and the 2 exam papers for next week. Yr 3 Sem 1 WILL be officially over! That is if I do well for CCHEM2, really want to pull my grades up for that module too...

I really can't believe I brought this upon myself.

In a huge dilemma now.

I thought what I did was right,and it seems that everything is going down the wrong route. I'm tired of everything! I wish that matter could just stop and vanish. I really don't mind!

Met up with my good friends last Friday. It was a great night,and I really enjoyed myself. (:

Besides that, I found out things that I would have never imagined about someone. It's true that no matter how hard you try to hide it, someone somewhere would still know the truth. I'm just shocked. Even though it happened ages back but it's hard to deny the fact that things did happened.

How am I suppose to view that particular person again? It's wrong to judge and everybody deserve second chances. However, I feel that I have to be more cautious now.
Oh well, it's a huge matter that I got to keep.

Argh! Why must things happen around tests and exams time again. Eating up my time and energy only...

I thought my final year would be filled with good memories of everything and everyone. But now I beg to differ.

I took that down during Basic Pathology last year while Mr. Ben Yang was teaching. (:
I started taking down interesting sentences that he says,to destress a little during his lecture. His lectures are one in a million, but it can be a little stressful scribbling down notes in lightning speed!

He recently left his teaching post at SP,and it's such a pity because I'm sure my future juniors would have enjoyed his way of teaching.

But what he said was true. Initially, I thought studying for this diploma was because of my interest in science. I guess it was more than I thought. From cancers to heart diseases to incurable diseases. It was simply depressing learning all the possibilities how one's life would eventually end.

I did get depressed initially.However,looking at it from another direction,it just became a reminder to me on treasuring this vulnerable life of mine more.

You know, I was thinking why everyone wasn't entitled to a "life insurance". We should all be given a guaranteed healthy life to live and die of old age sickness when the time arrives. Life is already difficult for some, and the lucky ones just have it easier.

Why is the most basic thing, our health,not 100% insured?

Maybe, I'll understand the reason someday...

BIOCHEM test was much better than the previous one. I'm not going to give up on my last MMICB test too!

There must be reasons why the adults are saying that students are going through a much more stressful life now and reasons why students carry out regrettable actions due to high expectations.

So,can I chuck my BIOCHEM textbook away and raise a white flag now?

NO!

I have a choice to say yes but we all know how society has drilled the fact that qualifications matter here. Damn. But if you have no real talent in anything, that's the only route you can take. ):

Besides tomorrow is the last assessment for BIOCHEM, and I just got to push and push myself harder. Because I really don't want to take this module in my further studies in future. Liking chemistry is so different from liking chemistry-associated biology modules.

They should just build this mini Biochemistry estate somewhere. Change the different road names to enzyme names, and label the destinations as intermediates in the metabolic pathway. IDEA? (:

Then I can take a car and drive through the estate, memorising all the supposedly 'road names'. Sounds pretty much more fun. But who has the freaking time? Learning and memorising everything in such a short period. Insanity!

Just felt like penning my thoughts down for today's entry before diving back into studying for my upcoming BIOCHEM & MedMicro tests. *seriously dreading*

It's taking me lots of determination to try and sit down to study for my BIOCHEM test. Need lots of positive thinking to keep me going. Some may not understand why I'm feeling so stress,but it's not easy trying to study for a module you really abhor.

Honestly, it's not easy to go through this phase when I see my good friends start to enter university and enjoy their time making new friends through their FOCs. I really envy that they get to have such a great time while I'm stuck in school studying my butt off.

Yea, I know I shouldn't feel this way...

I had my own share of fun at my own FOC during Year 1. I made lots of friends too back then,but I went through the next 2 years in Poly finding out that even though I made lots of great friends, it's not easy to find a really close friend.

So I learn to treasure the relationships I have with the SAC girls. (:
And when most of them move on to University, I'm afraid that the bond between us would start to distant. There, I've said my honest feelings. I'm afraid to lose the friendship.

Moving on...
Currently,year 3 is being a headache, I guess there's a silver lining to every cloud. Looking at my current state, I've been thinking that it'll be torturous to pursue science for my further studies.

But surprise,surprise!

I found a liking in Immunology.
Maybe not the practical side of the module (besides the joy of getting to poke and draw blood from classmates *sadist!*), but I found myself engrossed in the theory side of immunology. Maybe there's still hope somewhere. (:

A very common phrase that none of us fail to use.How about being able to fulfill it?
In reality, it's difficult to fulfill all promises made,but I always believe that I'll try my best to at least show my sincerity by putting in effort.

I'm grateful for friends that stood by me even though at times I may bring them disappointment. But I'm glad that they understand that their friend is a human after all, not someone who is part of their soul and body. She has her own problems,her own thoughts,her own life too.

Not someone who can think about her friend's problems 24 hours of the day.
Especially when there's a very obvious resolution to the problem but self-denial just disrupts the road to resolution.

Can't believe I'll encounter such a problem one day too. I'm human after all.

As to all my good friends entering University soon. Do enjoy! And all the best! :D

And I hope we will still maintain a strong friendship even though you all would probably made more awesome friends in the U. Our friendship survived your 2 years of JC,I hope it won't fall that easily in future too. (:

I PASS MY SECOND TRY AT TP! *grins widely!*
Thanks to all for your encouragement even though I was pretty
skeptical about it
...hahaha!

The excitement of me finally getting my driving license didn't hit
me till 2 days after my TP. I feel like getting up on my feet and
start prancing around, waving that leaflet which acts as my
temporary license for now.That joy and satisfaction.

No more early morning driving lessons or late night
driving lessons anymore! 
No more having to travel to CDC all the way from
Dover anymore!
No more having to get scolded or nagged at anymore!
(even though it's for my well-being :P)
No more having to waste more money on more
practical lessons!

Life is great till I realise that it's time to fully place my
concentration on my studies now. Boo...
Suddenly, it feels like my legs are too tired to continue
prancing around. Moodless.

Ok! I'm still hanging there!! On a thin line of rope though.
But my thoughts are all in Perth, where my bro and mum
is at now. They left behind a jealous little girl at home.
Ah..Perth!Those great memories I had in Sec 1. Memories

Slowly,slowly, the stress is building up again. But I've to handle it well this time. No more falling sick and more regular exercises. Definitely smiling and laughing more, taking things step by step and with an open heart.

More surprised than what I've expected, I was only half a step away from the finishing line. Somehow, I felt like a genius. I mean I really didn't think I'll score so well for the second part when I was in total torture due to my high fever. I'm impressed. Haha! But it's a lesson to teach me to be humble.
But, I'm so much more determine to ace CCHEM now! :D

I went for NAPFA! As expected I couldn't reach...
Today showed how much my fitness dropped since Sec 4. But results were pretty satisfactory.

Badminton yesterday was awesome! It's like I finally found the drive that I once had in Sec 3 and 4. The fire in me suddenly re-ignited again!

I chanced upon a long time video of Wang Lee Hom singing the song ,"You Raise Me Up" with Westlife. He's such a handsome inspiration! (:
Learning so many instruments and languages...

Listening to it makes me think of my actions as a daughter to my parents.
I may not be the ultimate rebel, but I have my own fair share of flaws that probably irritate my parents. It's so difficult trying to be the filial and 'as perfect as possible' daughter.

Is it always like this? I think I'll never understand till I become a parent myself. As for now, I'll try my very best to be an extremely good daughter. (:

First driving lesson since a month back. The feeling was great because I feel much more confident on the road now since the failure. But the question is, can I overcome the psychological problem?

목요일 and 금요일 was awesomely relaxing!

On Thursday after school, I brought Janna to the tracks! :) We walked from Bukit Timah to Ghim Moh Road. Getting bitten by mosquitos, surviving rocky terrains and looking 'great' with sweaty fringe. Just like the old times! :D

The hike with Janna was really great! Many pretty photos taken. I felt so relaxed. It's all what I needed. I didn't have to talk about my problems I'm facing, just enjoy spending time with my bestie with lots of rubbish talk.

On Friday after school, my classmates and I went to catch the last installment of the Harry Potter (해리 포터) movie-Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2! :)

Truthfully, the movie was too short. The book was much better! But it's understandable that it's impossible to include all the details in the movie and I love the digital effects! And there was quite a lot of humour.

Wow, it's been 10 years! I still remember having a huge crush on Daniel Radcliffe when the first movie came out. I even printed out his picture and brought it everywhere I went. LOL!

Hogwarts is a place where everyone would escape to when they meet with obstacles in life.

I hope the HP crew would have annual gatherings though!
10 years of friendship isn't easy to come by. Like many of them say, it's like graduating from school. And all they could do now is to look back at the happy times they once had. :(

And to me, watching the last movie with my classmates meant something significant to me.

Maybe none of my classmates will realise it and none of them would ever read my blog. Watching the last installment was significant, because just like the HP movie, it would be our last year together as a class in Poly. Graduation is nearing day by day. Even though 3 years of being classmates aren't comparable to the 10 years,

the 3 years do mean something.

So, I really enjoyed the movie having my classmates watched it with me! :D

At times like this, I wish I was like 백승조. I wished I was a genius, knowing the answers to every questions in life. Not having to put in so much effort into studying. But I guess life like that would be horrible as well. You are perfect in every way you can think of, but you'll never know how the feeling of joyfulness of working hard to achieve what you want will feel like.

I have never tasted much failures in life till I entered my second year in poly. Life before that was pretty much a breeze. All I had to do was to get good results, which wasn't something impossible to me.

Then it slowly hit me, results aren't everything in life. I haven't taste much failures in life till year 2. Success was sweet but failures made me think twice of what I really want. I felt that my route in life is changing.

It made me realize that my goals in life are simple. I just want to be happy and the rest around me too... I don't need a high paying job even though the money is a temptation which I know I can resist if I have the will to.

Yea, I may have realized that what I'm studying now is not my calling but I guess it made me grow up. Grow up from being the ignorant person I once was.

I have no idea what I really want to be when I grow up. But I'm willing to take the time and slowly try things out. I don't want to jump straight into some degree course which I'm unsure whether it's something I want or not. The truth is, no one knows when you'll find your calling. It's a question that an adult can't even answer. I just want to do things that makes me happy.

Things are always much easier said than done. Because of the people around me, I've to come up with back-up plans that act as safety nets. And that also means I got to push myself more in studying to get those grades needed. But my motivation is slowly dying down too which are affecting my grades. Struggling to push myself through all these just for the 2 most important people in my life.

现在，一件小事他都已经不应需了。我想如果我提出这些要求，他一定会怒气报天的。我真的不能选着自己要走的路吗? 会有人会支持我吗？

I'm just thankful for friends who understand what I'm going through as they are as lost as me. They make life so much better, especially when I'm in school. As I know I'm not the only one feeling this way.

Oh well, after the incident with him, I've totally lost the drive to study hard anymore. Because I already have no idea what else more I can do to gain a little more independence.

Finding the perseverance I need.

I never knew what I did wrong. I've been striving to be a good daughter. Been studying hard, not coming home past 12, not asking you for more allowances, not asking for anything more. You want to me get into a local university, I agreed to try my best. I worked hard to show you good results.

Revisiting an Old Memory.

It's old news that the KTM railway has since stop it's operations recently. The entire railway is opened till 17 July though for interested visitors to walk or "ride" down memory lane for some reminiscing of their journeys to Malaysia.

As for my one and only memory of the train ride was also my once in a lifetime experience of taking an overnight train ride with my (extended) family.
Yes, being a lower primary school girl at that time, being able to sleep in a bunk on a train is simply bizarre! And that determination in you to argue with your parents to allow you to sleep on the upper deck but still failing miserably. ):

The most vivid memory of the train ride is waking up in the early dawn to a horrendous and pungent toilet smell drifting into the cabin from the toilet not far away. I remember the feeling of wanting to puke and not being able to fall back to sleep because I had to prepare to alight, as the train was nearing KL. I still remember trying to hide on my bed, drawing the curtains close to try my utmost best to escape from the smell. Another failure!

Not forgetting, I was wearing my favourite Tweety Bird pajamas on that fateful train ride. (:

Great memories! Even though it happened such a long way back, and I barely remember any night scenery (Everything outside the window was pitch black!), it was awesome to visit one of the most scenic places in Singapore. (:

Life hasn't been this good the past few weeks and especially the past 5 days! :)
Ah... Serenade myself with JJ's songs,his vocals ever so soothing and relaxing!

The past 5 days were long, and due to my incredibly high stress level, I fell sick yet again. My immune system isn't as efficient as it used to be. I was given advice to exercise more regularly to strengthen it.

Thankful that I can push MSTs away now and squeeze out time to go back to running more often.

But good things really don't last forever. And it's even shorter now! I got to finish up all my undone datasheet and assignments which are way more than the number of tests I have.
Life... ... ...
REAL Holidays,when do I get to see you again? :(

And not forgetting FYP! Just thankful I've got a really nice supervisor to cover things up for us when we are too busy.

I really don't want to get my MST papers back though. Why can't we just do the papers and move on? I don't really want to know how well or badly I did.

But I knew I died for CCHEM2... ): I was struggling to breathe and think at the same time. And if I really had the courage to, I would have just chosen to leave more than half of the paper unanswered.
Last paper+Hated module+Sick don't make a good combination.

And I was SO NEAR to tearing and shredding my journal for medical microbio like some maniac. I started to detest reading journals ever since FYP started.
Those overly profound biology terms really screw my brain upside down! Imagine the agony of having to read 13 pages with thousand of words,font size smaller than 11!

I could feel the rubber band in my brain snapping anytime...
But... it's all over! I survived! :D

Those around me have been constantly telling me to go for a well-paid job in the future. And there's the rare few who tells me to pursue what you really love. Will you be determine enough to let go of the 'greed' that every human possess?

I guess the good thing is I haven't really made a decision of what I want to be.

Just got to wait till Year 3 ends. And MST is such an annoyance.

I feel like shredding and tearing all my notes for MST! Can't wait for this week to be over. Feel so suffocated having to cramp and study so much for this diploma.

Penang wasn't that bad. But I didn't get to relax much because of so many thoughts of schoolwork hogging my mind. The heat in Penang didn't really help much either...

But I do love the building structures there a lot because it looks so much like the olden Singapore. All the heritage. (:
& not forgetting the food there! Not much shopping to be done but it's a good place to relax for a REAL holiday!

I have just finished watching this HK drama,and I can't stop raving about it!
Great plot,Great storyline,Great acting skills by the casts.... Just amazing!

It's been a while since HK TVB was able to come up with such an awesome drama. It's not a surprise that it was the highest-rated TVB drama of 2010! But nonetheless, HK TVB dramas always beat Mediacorp dramas hands-down. The new Mediacorp dramas just don't work out well in my opinion.

I really had no regrets watching No Regrets. The casts were really talented in acting. Especially my favourite characters who were the main leads of the show!

Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang!
They won Best Actor and Best Actress respectively because of this show.
I love how the script-writer potray the love between these 2 characters. They didn't share any lovey-dovey hugs or passionate kisses between them...
Just really intense eye contact and actions that speak a thousand words showing how their love and trust for each other were so strong. The way they go all out to protect each other touched my heart.
The whole drama just made me tear so much...

And I got to agree with other viewers, if they were to hug or kiss like those normal romance dramas, it would have just spoil the whole show. Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang are such talented actors,and this talent seems to be missing in Singapore. And Wayne Lai is still so charismatic even at his age of 47... I remember him as the Pig in "Journey to the West" HK drama.

You just can't miss this drama! And I'll catch Rosy Business next! After all No Regrets was a spin-off from Rosy Business. I heard it was just as good! :)

Yea, I'm indeed very upset. Because I've got to walk/run through this pathway to get to CDC again. It's so tiring rushing down every time after school.

I failed my TP for the first time and hopefully last time!!

Many have said that if you compile everyone's TP experiences into one book, it would be damn funny! So, since the memory is still fresh in my mind, I should blog for the sake of fun,joy and laughter. (:

Can't deny that I'm super upset and disappointed. I thought things would go well in the circuit. But what was suppose to go well,turn out ugly instead. And those that I expected to go bad,turn out really well.

'Such is life,right?' I know, I know.

My instructor nearly forbid me last week to go for my TP today because my parking skills were totally a FAILURE. I didn't want to waste my chance, so every lesson leading up to my TP, I focused so much on my parking till I didn't even hit a kerb...
But my S course was a total fail till this morning's warm up lesson, I manage to find out what I should look out for...

And on the day of TP, I thought I positioned the car properly, and was ready to do my directional parking. The tester sticked his head out of the window, and just when I started reversing, he said I striked the kerb.

My mood completely change. I was pretty calm till he said that. My mind went blank and I totally wasn't thinking straight. Strike kerb again! Then immediate failure because my tester got pissed off (he threw some cardholder onto the dashboard infront of him and sighed loudly and shook his head), and had to assist me.

At the second time I strike kerb, it felt so painful to go on. You know you have failed already and it was only the first obstacle of the test! Furthermore, everything always go well for directional parking...

I just felt like giving up and just stepping out of the car, and tell the tester to drive himself back! HAHA! But I still went on because I'm not going to be such a loser...

Honestly, I didn't feel my car striking the kerb. But I won't argue with the tester since he's experienced, so...it's my fault. I only got my poor driving skills to blame. At least now I'm smarter now on how to maneuver my car.

And then did S course nicely, I'm so proud of myself! Vertical parking and crank course went alright too. I striked kerb at parallel parking? I managed to stop in time,and I didn't even bump into the kerb,just kiss? Argh! It was so demoralising... But I'm pretty confident I parked in the middle of the parking lot.

My tester just brought me one round outside school, and return to tell me I failed. He didn't even let me try out the test route. I was heartbroken.

I googled his name out of amusement, and realised everyone was complaining about him. At least,that was pretty comforting! :)

Somehow,I'm glad that I didn't pass somehow because it just shows I need more skills and confidence. Second try soon!!

Graduation 2011

CLS graduation was split up into 2 days. The chemical side and the life sciences side. It would be better if the whole school graduated on the same day though.

So,I dropped by to congratulate the few seniors I've known since Year 1, and took photos with some. (: I'm glad that they have finally ended their journey in SP,and embarking on a new journey.

This reminds me that around this period next year, it would be my dear classmates and my turn
to don on our graduation robes and hold on to our diplomas. Time really flies. But before reaching the final stage, I've have to deal with FYP and more scientific modules...

I'm working hard this year because I remembered what one of my seniors said...
because I want to make everything worth it. (:
It's really not easy since almost everything I learn is relatively new? And I'm not a very fast learner either. I need time to understand things! It's tiring to juggle everything at one go.

Got to continue striving on! :D

I should stop getting hook onto not-so-important korean idol dramas and not doing work. I just finished Boys Over Flowers. Yet another drama which is not that worthwhile to go crazy about,but the drama is pretty good for your eyes! :D So many eyecandies!

Kim Hyung Joong and Kim Bum have smiles to die for! And Kim So Eun has such a sweet face! I preferred the 'Kim Bum & Kim So Eun' couple in the show compared to the main couple. They are such a good-looking couple!

After all,all the storylines for korean dramas are the same.
Girl likes Boy A,usually a 'bad' boy. And Boy B,usually a 'nice' boy likes the girl. Same old same old.

However,soundtracks for Korean dramas are good!

Kim Bum and Kim So Eun! :D

The recent influx of Korean dramas made me feel like taking up korean language classes. Not because I'm into K-pop. But I realised the Korean language is simply amazing...

I'm amazed about how some of the pronunciation can be so similar to chinese, and how the Korean language consists of Chinese characters. (:

And I'm all for learning something new and learning to wake up early on a Saturday. :P

I don't want to be that girl in the past that avoids and run away. I want to be the girl who faces everything that is in her way.

'so unproductive but yet so fun'

BIOCHEM practical today is a worthy experience to write on. Haha! I swear Leonard,Brentha and me really "wouldn't make good FYP mates" as quoted by Brentha.

We were practically 'bickering' over stupid stuff the whole time. -.- So many pairs of eyes around me,but none can spot the mistake I made...
And when I was busy figuring out how I can measure out the large volume of water without using a pipette,Leonard happily pointed out the presence of a measuring cylinder to the wrong person...

Haha,the whole practical,our group was the slowest and noisiest. LOL!
But pretty fun... (:

They'll go like "Pei Yi,it's all your fault la,we take so long because you add in the wrong reagent!"
Then I'll be like, "You 2 la,stand beside me also never notice my mistake!"
*grumble,grumble and more grumblings*

HAHAHAHA!

At least we got really nice results. We deserve a pat on our backs! :D

I love the times where my class would just sit at all sorts of random places talking about anything under the sun but always falling back to that particular 'category'...

Just a random post...

The hype of 2011 General Elections more or less have settled down.

And it's this year's elections that made me feel more involve in Singapore's politics. After all,their decisions will affect mine and others' life directly.

I'm still feeling sore over Mr. Chiam See Tong's loss. I guess he reminded me that there's still hope and love in this world. It's amazing how much a person can sacrifice and endure just to show some love towards the people around him/her. And without the exchange of money...

And thinking back, I realised that everytime I step into Potong Pasir, it just gives me a different feeling from the other estates. It feels really homely there. Peaceful and serene. I've been spending lots of time there since 3 years back. And one of my favourite spots in Singapore -PP's spiderweb!

I've had many great memories in Potong Pasir.Both sad and happy.Gone through lots of teenage experiences there.Pretty awesome. (:
Maybe it's me thinking too much. But I am glad that the person looking after this estate that I enjoy being at was such a great man. And maybe he's the reason why I feel so happy spending my time at PP.

Not forgetting I've lots of close friends at PP too. (:

Now it has fallen into the hands of PAP,I wonder if this feeling I have whenever I'm in Potong Pasir would change....

GENERAL ELECTIONS 2011

Firstly, I would like to say that I'm really sad that Mr. George Yeo and Mr. Chiam See Tong would not be in the parliament supposedly for the next 5 years.

They are both really great leaders from what I know. Fighting hard for what they love - us, Singaporeans!

And what angers me the most is that we got a Tin Pei Ling in parliament,thanks to the same GRC system that kicked Mr. George Yeo out. Argh!

I got nothing against Tin Pei Ling as a person, but I have every reason to be anti-TPL as a MP. Even though I'm not at the age to vote and have a say yet, I do know that Tin Pei Ling doesn't have the capability to speak up for Singaporeans.
Simply by looking at how intellectual her answers to reporters' questions are.

PAP definitely made a wrong choice in bringing her in. She is NOT a talent!
And to add on, PAP why do you allow someone who did not serve NS and is only a Singapore citizen for only 3 years to be even in your party? There are so many talents out there (looking at the opposition party)! Oh well, I just find it very unfair but there's nothing I could do.

I'm glad that in the next 5 years time,I will have a say!

I'm neither a pro-PAP or a pro-OPP. Truthfully,if I got to vote this time round for the district I am in, I would vote for PAP,because I didn't see the OPP party around at all. (And the fact that as a student,I have not experience the harshness of PAP's policies yet,so it's unfair for me to say much).

I believe that if a good MP truly cares,he would make himself known and interact with the people he is serving in his district. He would listen to their problems and speak up for them in parliament.
I've seen my current MP a few times at some events held, but sadly not sitting at the kopitiam sipping his coffee and talking with the residents. But at least,I've seen him,though I'm unsure of whether he really speaks up for the people.

Maybe the OPP party should make themselves more known here in future. (:

Oh well, the government has been return to the PAP. And I really hope that my next 5 years would be a good one. Especially when I'll be transitioning from a student to a employee in the coming 5 years. \:

PAP,I hope you keep your word in listening to the people. I hope you really do...
Show a good example by reconsidering your choice of Tin Pei Ling as a MP!

After all,the next election would consists of citizens from my generation. I would say it's going to be a tough fight if you don't do well.

Got myself stuck onto "Playful Kiss",a Korean version of the Taiwanese drama "It Started With a Kiss". I didn't really follow the taiwanese version but I find the cast in "Playful Kiss" more fitting for their respective roles.

The drama is really typical but I still got glued to it somehow. I guess it brings back the feeling of being a secondary school girl again. (:
The times where you thought love could turn out like stories in those dramas. And the times where you imagine the guy you had a crush on was just simply perfect!

But as this young school girl grows up into a young adult, she realised love isn't what she imagined after all.

fantasies don't come true.

I'm preparing for my future so I got to be independent. (:

I feel different stepping into Year 3. The feeling of reluctance to study again wasn't there as usual. Somehow I stepped into my new year feeling better about myself, feeling lighter than ever about my studies. Just this unexplainable feeling...

But there was one thing that made me feel really disappointed in myself. It made me feel like I've let some people down after all their guidance. It's sad but I'm going to overcome this problem of mine because I know I can do it!

I AM SO EXCITED FOR MY FINAL YEAR IN SCHOOL! :D

The second best to having holidays is schooling...really! Since my holidays are not really holidays,the next thing to look forward to is going back to school. I didn't know I miss school so much till I had gone through 4 months of being a little adult.

Going to treasure my final year A LOT!

Even though I really want to travel out for some relaxation... I got all the rough itinerary mapped out in my brain ever since I came back from my last Taiwan trip. :/

BUT FIRST, I got to go through the grueling year 3 first!

I'm determine not to fall asleep in any of my classes this coming first semester! Shall start small first. (:

Good/Bad news is no more Dip Plus night classes! :D

In life, I said many last goodbyes. I don't only mean the passing away of someone close. It also includes the knowledge of not seeing another person who you shared great times again.

Ever since Primary school till now, I've gone through it countless times. Friends and people I've met on different occasions like camps, YOG, events...We had great fun together but I always knew that once it's over, IT'S OVER.

I'm not being pessimistic about life.

Because truthfully, there are some people whom you just can't keep throughout your life journey.

When it's over,it's memories that are there to keep! (':
I'm thankful for everyone whom I crossed path in life with and greatly appreciate whatever I've learn from each and everyone of them. You just got to keep on reminding yourself to not take things for granted and remember to treasure. (:

SP has to make me say 2 reluctant goodbyes to both my attachment places this holidays. ):
I really like my second attachment though... I'm happy to finish all 100 venipunctures!! I was so super nervous when I first started this clinical attachment. New attachment students under my mentor or colleagues in future are going to be so lucky! (:

It's upsetting walking out of the laboratory knowing that all I've been through would just be memories that I'll revisit once in a while. It's time to move on in life...

I used to think of growing up all the time,till growing old crosses my mind.

The first week of my clinical attachment was a totally different experience for me. It was pretty sad initially because it hit me that I'll grow old eventually in life.
Probably with a walking stick or in a wheelchair? And I'm upset that youth and being a healthy young adult won't last forever. And I would wonder about what happens after death...

Basically, I was thinking a lot.

I guess it's because I was thrown into an all new environment, and I had to adapt to it.But I got use to it as time passed.

I'm enjoying this attachment very much. Even though I don't mingle much with my colleagues compared to those in CSI, but I got to learn and experience more things. (:

And I'm really grateful for my mentor!
He's really supportive and encouraging, and I'm really glad for that. I'm lucky! (:

PTN with the poly classmates was surprisingly pretty good! Haha, sat at Starbucks for 3 whole hours to just talk about life during our ITP. (:
And I'm happy that my SAC girls are always there for me when I need them!

They made things feel so much better. (:

Next 3 weeks determine my pass or fail.

ITP finally ended for me. (:

I do feel sad about ending my ITP even though there wasn't much stuff to do. Even though I'll be going back there to do my FYP, things would still feel different. :/

Anyway, this marks the end of Year 2, and starting of my FINAL YEAR!

I had great fun the past 2 years in SP. Mostly thanks to CLS Club. And like always in whichever school I go to, I'll treasure my final year in SP. (':

I hardly know what's going on in the organisation of this camp but I do feel the tensions around. Haha, reminded me of stuff that happened in the FOC 10/11 which I organised.

BUT things always do happen! Happiness,Anger,Disappointment,Sadness... And you'll get to see how every individual got their own ways of working. From my experiences the previous time, the solution is to:

BE MORE UNDERSTANDING,FORGIVING,PATIENT,OPEN-HEARTED,HUMOROUS & TRY YOUR VERY BEST TO TREAT EVERYONE NICELY.

Results are finally out after more than 2 months of waiting!

Thinking back on how hectic the Year 2 Semester 2 was, I'm more than thankful for those results. (:
That semester was just pure evil. 3 full months of sleepless nights trying to finish up reports and datasheets and research, plus cramming in with class tests almost every week! I'm surprised I actually survived.

The first 3 months of that semester, I was so busy that I almost wanted to throw everything away and give up. And the next 3 months of ITP, I'm just dying of boredom and emptiness... I've experienced the 2 extreme points.

Trust me, I don't ever want to do it again.
It makes me go crazy.

4 more days till ITP ends! *screams!!*

HOPE AND LOVE

I guess everyone would have been aware of the recent disaster that struck Japan.
Praying for them and helping in a very minor way which I hope it's useful!

I'm admire how the Japanese faced the disaster relatively calmly.

I've always been reminding myself to be thankful for being born in Singapore. Even though Singapore weather kills the mood sometimes,I'll try my very best to not take things for granted. (:

So recently, I've been interested to discover how wonderful our country is.

The little secrets that Singapore holds... (:

It's certainly more than just MBS, Orchard Road, Vivocity etc.
I'm not going to be some insular teenage girl who knows nothing about her own country.

I read on Yahoo! news regarding the only Kampung that is left on Singapore Mainland which struck my curiosity.

And I've made up my mind to visit the place!

The Kampung is across the canal. It's not visible just like that.

The environment is a mixed of tranquility, peacefulness and relaxation!
(Haha, all 3 words seem to be of the same meaning...)

The residents were spot-on about the fresh air! It's a great relaxation area away from the busy city.

Got hens somemore! True Kampung style!

I never lived in a Kampung before but my dad and his siblings used to live in one,and my estate was known to be a Kampung area too. I was interested to find out how the lifestyle was like. And it was a pleasant surprise that the surviving one on mainland is quite near to me. (:

I hope the government doesn't buy over the land though.
I wonder where is my next stop for more exploration. Shall see!

Anyway, it's 2 more weeks till the end of ITP.

Everyday I sit in the lab and daydream about travelling...

You know it can be pretty torturous dreaming of things you wish to do, and knowing you can't achieve it at the back of your head.

How I wish I was luckier, to be able to afford an overseas education or even a few weeks long trip to tour around Europe or somewhere further.

I know of people who are that lucky and I'm happy for them. (:
As for me?
I'll just be happy that I have a pretty satisfactory life now. Shouldn't push things too far eh? (:

Wishing my ex-classmates/my dear SAC friends all the best for the collection of A level results on Friday! (:

Almost 5/6 of my secondary 4 classmates moved on to a JC after O's. I was part of the minority group. Yea,my class did really well in the final exams back then. I'm sure they would do great this time too. (:

Undeniably, it crossed my mind several times about "what would happen if I choose to go on to a JC?"

Haha,I'm 'paying for the price' right now!

Ok,less of pessimistic stuff!

2 years back, I was spoilt for my choices of JC. I'm happy about my O level results even though it's pretty useless now. :)

SAJC would be my choice for coolest uniform.
TJC would be my choice to pursue my then burning passion in badminton and my best friend, JANNA GIAM was there!
NYJC would be my choice because I spent three days of immersion program at the campus.

And so on...

I ended up in SP instead. It was my 'calling'. LOL! And it's more of a mental torture now. Nonetheless, it's a life experience that I have to go through. How 'painful' but worthwhile? :)

3 more weeks! The countdown timer just started to end of attachment and the beginning of another. I miss school and lessons. 6 more weeks to becoming a Year 3!

On a random note, I'm hooked on to the song "At the Beginning" now. I'm glad that I always get to chance upon a song or 2 that would simply lighten up my mood during a low point in my life, and remind me to be optimistic about life.

After all this is life. (:

I miss CLS club a lot ever since ITP started. I don't know what's wrong but being stuck in the lab the whole day is driving me near to the line of insanity. I never felt so bad and down in my life before till now.

a few dosage of club is what I need to regain my sanity

I made great friends here in club ever since Year 1.
Even though the seniors which made my sad days feel much better with laughter and tears (due to laughing too hard) had graduated (and I miss them very much), the juniors (to my surprise) are really caring too!

Besides the usual 'bullying' verbally and physically which makes them (some of the boys!) potential irritants,they do make my day feel heaps better!

I miss the club a lot and I'm anticipating for FOC 11/12 to commence soon! Another camp to 'attend'. This time as a SENIOR. wahaha!

& thanks to those who offered to accompany me for lunch tomorrow. Appreciated!
